Abu Dhabi Review (ADR), the city’s leading digital platform for local news and events, has announced the inaugural ADR Community Champions Awards 2025 – a special event to acknowledge the individuals, groups, and organisations making a meaningful difference in the capital.
Scheduled for Q4 this year, the awards will feature ten categories covering contributions to youth development, sustainability, cultural preservation, health, wellness, and more. Over 100 guests are expected to gather for an evening celebrating Abu Dhabi’s most inspiring community figures.
The awards are the brainchild of ADR founder and CEO Asha Sherwood, a prominent figure in local media known for her work in highlighting the voices and stories of Abu Dhabi’s people for more than a decade.
The event will serve as a platform to honour those whose dedication embodies the values of the UAE’s Year of Community.
Asha says, “These awards are a celebration of the people who make the capital extraordinary. In the spirit of the UAE’s Year of Community, we’re honouring those who uplift others, nurture belonging, and help co-create our shared future.”
Recognising everyone from grassroots organisers to workplace champions, the initiative aims to inspire others by showcasing the city’s most impactful community work.

“Abu Dhabi is home to countless unsung heroes who dedicate their time, energy, and passion to making a difference,” Asha continues. “Through the Community Champions Awards, we want to celebrate these incredible people and inspire others to join them in creating positive change. Being so deeply integrated into the community has allowed us to build strong, lasting relationships with our audience. It’s earned us the privilege of becoming a trusted voice in the capital, and now we have the opportunity to give back and say thank you.”
Nominations will open eight to ten weeks prior to the ceremony, with entries judged by a panel representing Abu Dhabi’s diverse cultural landscape. Winners will be revealed during an evening of celebration and networking, and shortlisted entrants will gain widespread recognition through ADR’s media channels.
Organisations are invited to partner with ADR by sponsoring categories aligned with their corporate values and community commitments.
