Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai (SISD), a proud member of the Nord Anglia Education network, is introducing the BTEC Level 2 in Esports as part of its curriculum, placing students at the forefront of digital career pathways.

Launching in August 2025 in partnership with EStars, the programme will be open to Grades 6 and 7 and sits alongside electives designed to enhance creativity and innovation. These include Instrumental Music (with The Juilliard School), Computer Science, Entrepreneurial Thinking, and French, German, and Spanish Language Acquisition.

Students benefit from a curriculum blending the IB MYP structure with flexible elective choices, giving them the chance to deepen knowledge in areas of passion alongside eight core disciplines, from Science and Design to Mathematics and Literature.

The Esports qualification addresses a rapidly growing industry estimated to generate tens of thousands of jobs by 2033, aligning with Dubai’s strategic ambitions. With Pearson accreditation, students gain a competitive edge through exposure to industry insights, digital leadership practices, and innovation-driven learning.

Paul Gardner, Head of Secondary (Middle School) at SISD, said:

“At SISD, we believe education should be as dynamic and forward-thinking as the world our students are preparing to enter. Esports is one of the fastest-growing sectors globally – and by offering this qualification, we’re helping students transform their passion into potential. This isn’t just about gaming – it’s about digital entrepreneurship, leadership, communication and innovation. We’re proud to be leading the way in the UAE, and globally.”

Graduates will emerge with knowledge suited to a spectrum of roles, from marketing and coaching to production, data analysis, and content creation, along with vital transferable skills for modern employment.

Mags Byrne, Founder and CEO of EStars, said:

“We are delighted to be working with the SISD team, to provide students with an innovative qualification to transform how students are prepared for the fast-growing global industry.”

SISD also maintains a responsible technology framework: students store mobile phones in secure safes during school hours, while communal areas remain device-free zones. Every class begins with a technology-free period, and educators integrate digital tools strategically through training on the SAMR model to maximise meaningful learning experiences.

This initiative demonstrates SISD’s forward-looking educational philosophy and positions the school as a leader in shaping global-ready graduates for the challenges of tomorrow’s workforce.
