- Green operations slash landfill output by 10% and avoid up to 40 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year
- Sustainability measures lift guest satisfaction by up to 10%
Central Hotels & Resorts, one of the UAE’s fastest-expanding hospitality brands, is making significant strides in environmental responsibility with a comprehensive sustainability agenda that blends cost savings with measurable ecological benefits.
A standout achievement has been in food waste reduction. Implementing a holistic “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” programme across its portfolio, the group has lowered food waste by 12% and trimmed overall food costs by 5%–7% each year.

Organic waste is diverted from landfill to Dubai Municipality’s Waste-to-Energy facility, cutting disposal fees by AED 20,000–25,000 and avoiding 30–40 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
Restaurant teams utilise advanced digital tracking to monitor waste patterns and adapt menus dynamically. Buffet offerings are carefully portioned to reduce surplus, and à la carte menus provide portion size flexibility.
In parallel, all guest accommodations now feature sustainable, fibre-based amenities, reducing plastic usage significantly.
Guests have responded positively, with satisfaction scores rising 7%–10%. Many repeat visitors highlight the eco-initiatives as a reason for returning, while 80% of staff express heightened pride in their employer’s values and participate in promoting green practices daily.

“Our sustainability roadmap is not just about reducing waste or lowering costs—it’s about creating lasting value for our guests, employees, and community,” said Abdulla Ahmad Ali Al Abdulla Al Ansari, Chief Operating Officer and Group General Manager of Central Hotels & Resorts. “These initiatives reflect our long-term vision of responsible hospitality, where operational excellence goes hand in hand with environmental stewardship.”
Plans for the next stage of the sustainability strategy include investments in energy efficiency, water-saving systems, and responsible sourcing, alongside collaboration with like-minded partners.
Through these efforts, Central Hotels & Resorts demonstrates that sustainability and guest satisfaction can progress together.
