The Knowledge Lounge, part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF), is staging an inspiring August programme filled with knowledge-sharing, literary discussions, and creative workshops. The initiative reflects MBRF’s long-standing goal of cultivating a society built on learning and imagination while embedding the joy of reading into everyday routines.
In Canada, the schedule began with an exploration of Our Children Are Gems, But We Are Blacksmiths, complemented by the interactive What Are You Reading? activity that invited participants to recommend books via Instagram videos. Among other highlights were the Writer of the Future workshop for emerging authors and the Art of Public Speaking workshop to nurture presentation skills.
Under the banner of Our Knowledge Summer, young readers tackled The Little Prince, reflecting on its values and morals. They also brought stories to life in the We Create an Illustrated Story workshop. Meanwhile, the Youth Knowledge Club hosted a debate on Artificial Intelligence and Literature: Challenges and Opportunities, and in Al Ain, readers discussed the acclaimed novel Azazel.
International expansion was showcased in Alexandria with Book from My Library, while in the UAE, children discovered Arabic calligraphy at the Little Calligrapher of Knowledge workshop. In Sharjah and Ajman, readers united over Finding Your Voice in collective book sessions.
The month also featured a Diary Writing workshop that encouraged creative self-expression. In honour of World Humanitarian Day, a special gathering promoted empathy, compassion, and community service.
Children’s imagination was further developed through An Inspiring Story Told by a Bird. In Khorfakkan, financial literacy took centre stage with a session on personal money management, while Stories Inspired by Pictures merged visual prompts with creative storytelling.
Abu Dhabi hosted an engaging reading of Ikigai, introducing the philosophy of purposeful living, followed by a Writing Lounge event. Fujairah celebrated Emirati Women’s Day with readings dedicated to women’s voices, while Dubai and Al Ain will conclude the month with sessions focusing on women’s literary influence and philosophical themes in literature.
Supporting activities throughout August included Whose Doll Is This?, Your Favourite Character: Let’s Create It Together, and the Read Book Series. Returning favourites such as Let’s Create an Illustrated Story and Little Calligrapher of Knowledge also enriched the programme.
With this comprehensive line-up, the Knowledge Lounge continues to expand its role as a hub of creativity, cultural exchange, and intellectual dialogue.
